A: It doesn’t work that way.

A: Terminating your rights to a child is not as simple as it may seem. It depends on the situation and why a person wants to terminate their rights. Judge's have a lot of discretion when determining whether or not to allow a person to terminate their rights to a child. If the child is being adopted or is in CPS care it is easier for a person to terminate their rights. If a person has just decided that they don't want to pay child support the Judge will be less likely to allow that person to terminate parental rights.

A: That is not something very easy for someone to do by themselves without a lawyer. If you are really wanting to do this get at leas a consultation from an attorney before proceeding. Good luck.
