Q: can u get in trouble for almost hitting somebody?
My boy friend was taking me home from the mall, we were just about to get on the highway when the car in front of us slammed on their breaks outta no where . we ALMOST hit them but my boyfriend made a sharp left turn so we didn’t . but today an officer came to his house and said the car that was in front of us reported an accident & has damage. my boyfriend car has no scratches no dents or even chipped paint . there’s no damage on his car at all. So will he still get in trouble ?
A:
Based on these facts alone, it's difficult to determine exactly what happened, in terms of whether your boyfriend's actions were responsible for the accident, whether the other vehicle's damage claim is valid, etc. You could try to arrange a brief consult with an Ohio accident attorney to determine the best course of action in terms of obtaining the police report, investigating the accident, and placing your insurance company on notice if necessary for possible property damage and bodily injury claims from the other vehicle, etc. Good luck
