Q: What are my rights? My chances at either type of custody? What Should my next step be? Am I Correct on all of this?
To sum up the situation the mother and largely her parents have put outrageous limits on when, where, and how long I can see my child. I’ve already met with a lawyer about my concerns with the age gap laws and there is no worry there.
1. I’m the father 18, the mother is 16. The mother and her parents say I have no custody or visitation rights with my child whatsoever. I thought since the mother an I BOTH signed the AOP under Texas law it states that the AOP becomes a legal document equal to a court order Establishing paternity, equal rights, etc? Also no court order for anything has been established yet. ( I also signed the BC).
2. I’ve also been told since I’m a adult an she’s a minor I’d have a advantage in a “custody battle”. I have a car, license, EMT job, high school grad, and EMS professional college graduate. The mother doesn’t even have one of those. I feel it would be best for me to have sole or atleast 50/50 custody of our child and I feel I have a strong case for it.
A: We will just assume that your child is an infant or under the age of 3. Custody is determined what is best for the child. It will depend on how involved you have been as a parent and your intentions in the future. In order to have specifics you will need to file a suit to do so. Good luck 888-343-4529.
A: HIre a lawyer to file suit affecting the parent child relationship to establish your legal rights.
