Kenton, OH asked in Child Custody and Family Law for Ohio

Q: Children service worker told foster family they was going to be able to adopt my son. Is that legal? What can I do?

My old case worker who is now fired(unrelated issues) told the foster family of my son they would be able to adopt my son even while I was Fighting for him doing the case plan and now my aunt is willing to adopt him and the foster family thinks they should be able to fight it. They have been calling him a different name and giving my aunt a hard time. My court appointment lawyer keeps saying there's nothing I can do. I believe my case plan was sabotaged because the case worker wanted the Foster family to adopt him but nothing is being done. I can not regain custody of my son now but my aunt wants to adopt him and they say family comes first but the children service workers keep saying the foster family is devastated and trying to make my aunt feel bad for them so she will give up. I believe I have been done wrong and have lost my son and all I want is for my aunt to adopt him and they keep pushing back visits and taking their good old time getting things moving.

A: Since you are represented by an attorney, and that attorney is familiar with all the facts and circumstances, you should consult that attorney about it. Or your aunt could use the Find a Lawyer tab to retain a local attorney to represent her in trying to gain custody.
