A: If you feel that a threat has been made against you, contact the authorities immediately. If you are working with the State in some fashion, you should advise them of the threat. You may also wish to seek a protective order.

A: An experienced criminal defense attorney can negotiate the terms and conditions of a deal to cooperate with police and with the prosecutor's office (without a deal directly with the prosecutor's office, promises made by police or detectives are worth little). But this takes some time, and if you feel you don't have time and you or your family's lives are in immediate danger, then you need to act faster. Only you are in a position to know what your situation is, and what and how useful your information may be. Until you meet with a lawyer, and the lawyer contacts investigators, it is unclear what value the police may place on your information, or the level of protection they may agree to provide to you and your family.
