A: A public defender should, most do, meet with the client to determine the strategy necessary to proceed on in a case...It has been my experience that most public defenders try, as best as they can to insure that their clients are competently represented.

You should meet with your public defender, in the event that you are not able to communicate with or meet with your public defender, you should retain a private attorney and/or advise the Court about your difficulties.
