Dayton, OH asked in Libel & Slander for Ohio

Q: I have a question about defamation tort

This is what I posted online "If not allowed then please remove. Do not hire a private contractor by the name of Jesse Evans who has owned business that went by Trade Pro Renovations LLC. he and his business are not legit. He will take your money, $11,000, with the mind set of doing the job. After down payment of he will then never schedule your renovation. almost two year later now and after he lost the civil lawsuit he cannot and will not pay you back. His communication to customers is horrible. He cannot be trusted. Nothing in here is false. This is not slander but the truth. He has been sued by multiple people from what my lawyer told me. Do not hire. Do not work for him as he also doesn't pay his employee's." Is it slander if all true statement and if so can I get in trouble for it?

A: Truth is an absolute defense in defamation lawsuits. But that doesn't mean he won't sue you and argue some or all of what you've said is untrue so there could still be a hassle.
