Dallas, TX asked in Criminal Law and Family Law for Texas

Q: Cashed boyfriends check with permission but now he's mad.

My boyfriend is currently incarcerated. He received a check in the mail and verbally gave me permission to cash it and put it in my bank to be able to send him money and put on his books. I had his license with me and mine. I cashed the check and have been sending him money like he asked. However I've used some of the money to replace a tv he broke in the past. He is upset about that. Can he try to go to the police when he gets out & say he didn't give me permission to cash the check?

A: Your boyfriend can try to do anything, but understand that all communications while he is incarcerated have been recorded, so what he did and didn't give permission for you to do can be easily verified. I wouldn't worry about it.
