Q: Is there away to revoke temporary guardianship?
2018 my first child (son) was born. My husbands step mother manipulated me into thinking DCFS was coming after my son she made me believe they were coming to get him right after he was born on May 23 2018. She brought in temporary guardianship papers and made me sign them. She says they were only for a year and its been 2 years now. She only let me see him at most 6 to 7 times through the months of May and June on 2018. To this day i ask her if i can see my son and she always has cover ups like we arent home. (even though im waiting outside the door and can see them inside the house.) or we are busy. (again im outside waiting to see my son and they are inside the house.)or she straight up tells me no. I have a job so i try to see him when i can. But she wont let me and im starting to realize that i need to do something because she lied to me. She has been extremely rude to me face to face. When she sees me she gives me extremely dirty looks, talks bad about me. I want my son back.
A: I take it that you do not have a copy of what you signed. Some cases can be done without a lawyer, but this one is more complicated. Much depends on what you signed. It sounds like even she agrees that what you signed was temporary. A lawyer will file a pleading with the court. In response, she will provide the document that you signed. This could be a long, hard, expensive road for you to travel. Consult with some experienced family law lawyers and then hire one. Good luck to you.
