Louisville, KY asked in Child Custody for Kentucky

Q: I found out that I am the father of a 3 year old little girl a while back. After paternity test, how to get custody?

My daughter's mother has many CPS cases against her (not sure why, have been in contact many times with CPS, but no answers yet). She was forced to sign custody of her 4 children (including my daughter) over to her 82 year old grandma. I didn't know this until a family friend informed me. And they said that the living conditions there were terrible and very possibly abuse going on. I immediately picked up my daughter and she's been in my care ever since (about 2 months now). I spoke to the mom and grandma a couple of times. I recently had a paternity test done to help establish paternity and custody. Since I am the biological father, what steps do I take to gain full custody of my daughter? Thank you.

A: File a petition for custody against both mom and grandma in the circuit court of the county in which you live or the child resides.
