Q: Is it legal to trap a cottontail rabbit in my yard

A: Not in New York City, but this question come from Arizona. Some animals are treated as pests in them parts. It depends on whether there are city, county or state regulations against trapping wild animals that apply to where you live. There are some parts of AZ that are so wild that you are practically in the wilderness. You have the Grand Canyon, right? And agriculture farms there that would have to deal with rabbits as pests? I would start with the local police department to inquire of them. Heck, there are probably places in AZ where you can shoot the rabbits. If Farmer Brown had been more capable, then Peter, Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail would have been rabbit stew.
