This is something that attorneys who practice in Malaysia would know best. But as a general matter, if by legal literature, if you mean fictional works dealing with the subject of law, they are not that significant as a source of law in most nations. If you are a student and are researching this as a subject, the things you could look into that ARE important sources of law include court decisions, annotations in other bodies of law, interpretations of constitutions, sometimes foreign laws, social and economic needs, and things more along those lines.
