Waco, TX asked in Criminal Law and Personal Injury for Texas

Q: I am trying to see how to get justice after being shot by someone?

I was shot by someone while standing outside in my neighborhood. At the hospital multiple law enforcement showed up and questioned me not even concerned that I had been shot but asking was it gang/drug related because It’s a high crime area, and I must owe somebody or doing something, all because after running my name with my id, that I have a background myself.

I have moved away to stay with my sister in Dallas; fearing for my Life. I have kids and my mom that I want to come home to and to be around, but because I spoke to police and tried to tell them what person was driving and that I see him around but I truly don’t know him; word got back to person and people have went to my mom house asking “Is this Greg’s mama house?” Like what am I supposed to do if the police are not going to do anything? How do I protect myself? How do I get justice after being shot by someone? Why do it always have to be gang related and we have to basically kill one another because nothing is being done?

A: I am so sorry to hear about your situation. While this is not an area of the law in which I practice, I would encourage you to contact the DA Office’s Victim Witness Liaison and see if they can help you.
