Grand Haven, MI asked in Consumer Law and Small Claims for Michigan

Q: Can someone help me with a consumer purchased garage door issue?

Purchased the Door on 7/20/2020. The door arrived at the box store for pickup on 8/10/2020. I picked it up a day or so afterwards. After it was unloaded in my garage. I inventoried the track kit contents to verify it had what it need before I began assembly. I noticed that the struts both had been twisted and bent during shipment. I contacted the store and they agreed to swap them out. After I unloaded the replacements at home I started to assemble the door track and realized that their was an angle bracket missing. SO I contacted the store and they looiked to see if they had what I needed in one of their scavanged kits at the store. No luck so they sent an email to the manufacturer requesting the brackets. I received a package about 7-8 days later. The items they sent me was identical to what I already had and was not the components that I needed.

A: I understand your frustration - I have been waiting for a warranty replacement for a consumer product for well over 8 weeks at this point.

I don't think you need a lawyer here, at least not based on the facts as you've outlined them.

Call / email / chat through the website with the manufacturer again.

Explain the problem, and they will hopefully just send you the missing parts.

With many people having to work from home and supply chain disruptions, many things take longer now. It's frustrating, but it doesn't sound like rising to the level of needing an attorney.

Best of luck.
