A: Hey, under the public charge rule, the USCIS will consider whether the intending immigrant has received or will be eligible to receive public benefits in the future. Last month, there was a temporary hold on i-944 but it seems to apply to certain states- NY-VT-CT- USCIS has been quite about the rule and how to apply it during the pandemic. Check out my Youtube channel where I discussed the states and answered other immigration questions https://linktr.ee/Ifylaw

Applying for food stamps at this stage of the application may not affect your spouse but it is definitely a question that could come up at interview.

Contact an experienced immigration attorney to discuss this concern. I hope everything works out for you regarding your job.
