A: Generally, to change your name, you have to change your ID documents. If you do not apply for a permanent resident card, then to change your name you would change it on your passport (or other ID document) with the country that issued it.

If you apply for your green card, you can change your name on the card based on your marriage certificate.

A: Yes. You can use your married name and your marriage license to change your name on your civil documents. Most people complete the petition and application to adjust staus using their married name and then use their green card or EAD to obtain a SSN and DL in the married name. You then change your passport. However you can start the change now.
