I had minor damage and filed claim with ins company. I want to file police report for documentation. I do not think an investigation is needed. If I file police report Will police open investigation? SC

A South Carolina attorney could answer best, but you await a response for two weeks. As a GENERAL matter, such a situation would not elicit an investigation in most jurisdictions; you are correct. A cursory investigation could be made in terms of T/P/O, extent of damages, and some other basic facts, and that's usually it in most places.
