Cincinnati, OH asked in Traffic Tickets and Car Accidents for Ohio

Q: I have license forfeitures from failing to appear. I took care of them both w court, still blocked at BMV! What gives?

In 2016, I was ticketed with a “failure to yield; left turn” ticket for an accident I believed I was innocent of. I couldn’t afford to fight it, so decided to wait it out. 2018, I got rear ended and charged w driving under suspension from failure to pay. 2020, personal circumstances strong armed me into regaining my license. I paid the ticket and went to the police station and got recited. Also paid $50 reinstatement fees w BMV online. Currently have no capias’s and paid fees, but this hasn’t registered with BMV and I am still blocked with two withdrawals on my driving record. Is there something more I should be doing to inform the BVM that I am eligible to reinstate my driving privileges? BMV says they need “release of forfeiture”, what is that and how can I get it to them? Is receipt of ticket pymnt & recite ticket enough? I am in Hamilton County, OH. Thanks!

A: You need to go to the clerk's offices at the court(s) involved and get the release to give to the BMV.
