Granada Hills, CA asked in Animal / Dog Law for California

Q: Was given a pup by my daughter11 months ago. i found out that her boyfriend has taken it w/o permission from his parents

I didnt know until recently that he was taken. He was under nourished when i got him and i hate to see him in that environment again. They were illegally breeding them and so many mouths to feed. How can i keep him legally if they dont want to be paid but they want him back.

A: Call Animal Control if they aren't caring for their dogs properly. You don't have any right to keep their property, but you might be able to surrender it to Animal Control and then legally adopt it.
