A: In terms of the USS Constitution, the vessel is generally referred to as Constitution or USS Constitution, without the word "the." But I see people use the word "the." In legal pleadings I deal with, I see vessels designated both ways. That's just as a general matter. But if this question is for paperwork dealing with vessel documentation for an actual vessel, you could check with a Maryland attorney as well as some of the services out there that handle the process on a regular basis - they would be most up to date on current federal requirements relating to documentation. Good luck
