A: If a lawful permanent resident changes jobs or needs to travel, then they must have evidence of immigrant status for travel, CBP and I-9 purposes, respectively. In general, a lawful permanent resident must have proof of their status should they be subject to inspection. Otherwise, they can be detained and a fined by I.C.E. In addition, you will be asked for a valid unexpired lawful permanent resident card at your U.S.C.I.S. examination. In the alternative, you should have proof that you have filed for a replacement.

If there are any other questions, or concerns, then I strongly recommend an appointment or teleconference with a competent and experienced immigration attorney before there are any complications.

A: Provided you timely applied for NATZ you will not need to renew your green card. Timely generally means you filed for your NATZ at least 3 - 6 months before your green card was to expire.
