Q: Can my neighbor video tape or record in person or phone conversations without my consent..while I'm on my own property
My neighbor has been listening and repeatedly to any and all conversations on my property while I'm on my front porch and during those conversations I curse they've written a letter to my mother-in-law who owns the home we do not rent this house we own it okay and they use Christianity as an excuse to lie they lied to her in this letter and I have the letter for review also they were told by a reliable source that reliable source was the police officer that I called on them to get them to leave me alone and apparently this police officer gave them wrong information told them to record me while I'm on my own front porch on my property that I pay for without my consent
A:
All parties must consent to the recording or the disclosure of the contents of any in-person, telephone or electronic communication in Florida. Disclosing communications in violation of the state’s statute is prohibited.
The state’s video voyeurism law bans the secret recording of images of individuals in areas where they are undressing and have a reasonable expectation of privacy.
Both criminal and civil penalties exist for violations of the recording law, while the video voyeurism law has criminal penalties.
