Elk Grove, CA asked in Immigration Law for California

Q: Rcvd a new I797C form that has an “A” num by the beneficiary name. The original did not. Is this good news?

I submitted a I-129F K1 Fiancé petition on 04/26/2021.

I received a I-797C Receipt form dated 05/07/2021 from the California Laguna Nigel office with no instruction, no “A” number for the beneficiary, no priority date.

I requested a new Receipt form stating it was missing information. I received a new I-797C Receipt form that had an “A” number on top of my fiancé’s name and no other instruction.

As of December 26th, It will be 8 months since we submitted the petition, and still no word of approval, denial, or information needed.

Are my chances of it getting approved good now that the “A” number has been assigned?

A: The assignment of an A# does not mean that the petition will be approved. Best wishes!

A: No - the assignment of an A number does not indicate approval.
