Q: How can I petition the court for custody of my sister?
Sister is 17 but our biological father lives out of state. He won’t send POA papers to anyone and hasn’t done anything to provide for her since the death of our mother. She has been living with our stepfather since our mother passed.
A: You don’t have standing to bring a custody action but you may be able to file a petition for guardianship in the county in which you live.
