Q: I’m 17 and my sister 19 and we just got into a fight. I’m in my first trimester and she doesn’t know that. Who’s wrong
We were in the street I got dragged out. She hit me first and defended myself. I’m very petite and I’m sister is strong and bigger and has the upperhand. She got a bump on her head i got scratch marks on my side and knee. My hair was pulled and I had stuff in the car I couldn’t get to, the middle mirror inside got broken. And I was left on the side of the road at night. And neither of us got license. I was told that I could go to jail because she had a bump. She claimed that someone was on the phone but yet she doesn’t have service to call anyone. I called the police as soon as possible and she drove off. I don’t know what to do. I’m still pregnant and healthy
A: You certainly have a legal right to defend yourself and your unborn child. It seems like you might have some exposure of being charged with a 5th Degree Assault. That is a misdemeanor unless you have prior assault convictions. You need an attorney. You should either hire a private attorney or apply for a public defender, especially if you get charged with anything.
