A: A “misdemeanor review” is a return court date that is set by the judge after someone who has been charged with criminal misdemeanor has been placed on probation. The review date is the return date to come back to court and provide proof that all probationary obligations have been completed. Probationary obligations vary with each case but typically involve such requirements as no further arrests, full payment of fines, costs and probation fees, completion of community service hours, completion of certain classes (such as DUI school, drug and alcohol assessments, anger management classes), the list can go on and on depending upon the charges involved. On that review date if the probationer has fully complied with all of their obligations at a minimum the court will terminate the probation and, in the case of a deferred probation, the charges will usually be dismissed with no conviction.
