Lehigh Acres, FL asked in Family Law and Child Support for Florida

Q: How can I stop FL from reporting my arrears to the credit bureaus as delinquent and as a collection?

I live in FL but my child support order is from AL with an arrears amount that was awarded in the most recent order. I have been paying that amount as ordered but it continues to grow because of interest. Last year FL was asked to collect and enforce the child support order but an IWO was already in place from AL. Now, FL is reporting to the credit bureaus that I am delinquent and my account is a collection. This is wreaking havoc on my credit rating! How can I get this fixed? I can't pay AL and FL at the same time! BTW, I have already paid back the arrears amount and I am ahead on my child support payments. The outstanding amount is all interest and it's over $10,000.

A: If what they told the credit reporting agencies is not correct, advise those agencies in writing of the true situation.
