Asked in Contracts and Landlord - Tenant for Kentucky

Q: Am I legally obligated to pay for a broken lease if the landlord found a new tenant only a few weeks after I moved out?

I broke an apartment lease 6 months early because my husband left me. I got a letter from a collections agency stating that I owe them a little over $3,000 for the remaining 6 months of the lease. The landlord had another tenant move in not even 2 weeks after I moved out. From my understanding, Kentucky law (Ky. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 383.670) says that if they landlord finds another renter, the agreement is terminated (as long as the landlord does not incur any lost income). Am I legally obligated to pay for the remaining lease?

A: You are obligated only for the difference between lease and new concrete price.
