Baltimore, MD asked in Traffic Tickets for Maryland

Q: What does serious case NP mean relating to a traffic court case?

I have traffic citations and must appears for 80mph in 40 zone, expired license, expired registration plate. The citations were given on 11/23/2020 during the civil lock down. The case is almost two years old and there wasn’t any activity sence I missed the court date on 9/29/2021. Then on 7/29/2022 is says request trial per judge reset on minor traffic docket. Serious case NP. Then is says suspension recalled serious case NP. Also there was a court date for 8/29/2022 and it was rescheduled to middle of October because the officer asked for a PP. Idk what any of this means or why now all a sudden a judge is scheduling a trial?

A: The serious charge was dropped (called a nolle prossequi). The remaining traffic offenses are now scheduled for the middle of October. You may wish to discuss this with a lawyer.
