Lake Worth, FL asked in Car Accidents, Insurance Defense and Personal Injury for Florida

Q: How am I supposed to respond to a car crash complaint filed against me with interrogatories when I have insurance?

A complaint from a person in a car crash was filed against me with many interrogatories and questions for me to answer, and they asked that I respond to them. However, my insurance claims representative told me to not worry about anything and that they will handle everything and ask me for help if needed. They asked me to send them a copy of the interrogatories, but not my answers to them.

Do I just do nothing and wait for them to sort everything out, and ignore the interrogatories? I'm worried I won't be fully represented without giving them the details the plaintiff and their attorney asked for. The claims representative and my insurance does not have answers to all of the interrogatories.

A: It seems that you are being sued by the other person involved in the auto accident. In that case, your car insurance will represent you by hiring an attorney, if they haven't done so already. The attorney should reach out to you to discuss the accident, so they know how to answer the complaint and what defenses to use, as well as go over all of the discovery documents together to formulate truthful answers.
