A: I'm a bit unsure about the question, since some of the terminology used in it may be different than as used by attorneys. A traffic stop alone is not an "arrest." When a driver is issued a citation by a police officer, that is done instead of an arrest, normally. In any event, you may want to simply pick up the phone during the week, and give a criminal defense lawyer like me a call. That way the lawyer can help you zero in on the main concern as well as clarify any questions alone the way.

A: You are not given an opportunity to sign a citation. That is not something that happens in Minnesota. The citation is simply issued to the offender. The citation will be mailed to you if it was not issued to you at the time of the traffic stop.
