Q: Lawyers mistake caused me a lawsuit to be lost.
On 2019 the owner of the house on which I live in now added me, his partner, and his son to a living trust. We were each supposed to get his portion of the house which accounted for 25% which would be divided by 3. The lawyer that helped us out made a mistake in sending the trust with the incorrect filing fee to the county recorders office. Unfortunately because of the covid 19 situation it took a while before the county recorders office sent my lawyer the paperwork back. She then resubmitted the paperwork with the correct filing fee. I was never notified about this error. because of this error one of the other owners of the house open a lawsuit against me saying that the deed and living trust was recorded very late and unfortunately because of that matter I lost the case. I spent about 15 thousand on her assistance for her to represent me and now she's telling me that she has insurance policy that would cover what I payed for but she made us lose 25% of the property. What can be done?
A: You may have a malpractice case against the attorney. Consult with experienced attorneys.
