San Francisco De Las Llagas, CA asked in Education Law for California

Q: After the pandemic, a year in isolation, my child was diagnosed with depression.

After the pandemic, a year in isolation, my child was diagnosed with depression. When depression began to develop in several subjects at school, she received a very low score. During treatment, she managed to correct her grades. But the school refuses to change the grage. We are looking for a lawyer to resolve this issue. And the answer is whether we can influence the school to approach this issue individually? Since the cause of depression was the situation with the covid pandemic.

A: A California attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for four weeks. I'm sorry for the hardship your child is experiencing. You could reach out to attorneys to discuss - there are attorneys who specialize in education law. However, one of the difficulties with such a case is that a law firm might not be willing to handle it on a contingency basis. That could mean paying on an hourly basis to retrieve records, investigate, consult with experts... all with no clear-cut outcome. But that's only an individual opinion - you could reach out to attorneys who might see things differently. Good luck
