Poughkeepsie, NY asked in Identity Theft for New York

Q: I was the victim of fraudulent unathorized money wire transfer out of my Savings Account from Citibank.

I already filed a claim and only part of it was approved (an unauthorized persoanl loan applied for under my name on the same day my Savings Account was emptied). The unathorized $6,000.00 dollar personal loan was reversed, but the rest of my money has not been returned to me ($16,000.00). I filed an appeal but I just received the letter from Citibank that they again have not approved it. This is a crime I reported immediately and Citibank could have blocked this wire transfer had they acted fast enough. They did not. What are my legal options....?

A: You can sue Citibank but the success of the suit will turn on the facts of what happened.

A: You have to review the terms of your account holder agreement. It may be time to file a lawsuit in civil court. Consider retaining an attorney to help you.
