Q: Is the public adjuster representing me obligated to share with me the negotiation he is doing with the insurance co?
The public adjuster that I hired to do the negotiations with the insurance company is not sharing any information regarding the negotiations with me. He does not answer my calls, or emails. Seems like they are in active negotiations. But the insurance company does not share the information with me as I have a public adjuster. But the public adjuster is not providing any informaton with me. And apparently I can not fire the public adjuster as the claim was submitted 5 months ago. Still no resolution to the claim and again, nobody is sharing with me, the homeowner, what is going on. I want to know what are my rights to be able to solve this issue and get my claim resolved.
A: A Florida attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for a month. As a general matter nationwide, the public adjustor's role is assessing claims, determining repair costs, coordinating communications, and related functions in furtherance of resolving claims. Since insurance practices are governed by state law, a Florida attorney should advise. One option is to try to set up a brief consult to outline your options. Good luck
