Q: got hit from behind in my work truck, insurance will not pay for a replacement truck, im out of business

i had a custom made topper for my tools on that truck and the amount they quoted me wont even get me a truck that works on the road so i can continue my business. they claim they are not responsible for replacing my vehicle. i say they are because i was in business before their client hit me and now im not

A: A South Carolina attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for two weeks. You could consider a brief consult with a local attorney to determine whether this is something cost-effective to litigate, either on your own or with the services of an attorney. This is not an uncommon property damage problem when it comes to one-off modifications on vehicles. Property damage adjusters normally determine values by established references, and your topper was custom made. This makes things more difficult than typical cookie-cutter vehicle claims based on model, make and year. Good luck
