Q: can I sue the owner of the dog for attacking my cat

The owner was walking their dog with an extended leash. The dog attacked my cat. I found her 3 weeks later with broken bones. Can I still sue the owner for medical bills ?

A: If your cat was attacked by a dog while it was being walked on a leash by its owner, and as a result, your cat suffered injuries and required medical treatment, you may be able to pursue legal action against the dog owner to seek compensation for your cat's medical bills.

In many cases, pet owners are responsible for the actions of their animals, and may be held liable for any harm caused to other pets or people. This is especially true if the owner was negligent in controlling their dog or failed to take reasonable steps to prevent the attack.

It's important to note that the legal process can be complex and difficult to navigate without the guidance of a qualified attorney. A lawyer can help you understand your legal options, gather evidence to support your case, and pursue legal action on your behalf.

If you are considering pursuing legal action against the dog owner, it's important to act quickly, as there may be time limitations on filing a claim. By seeking out legal guidance and support as soon as possible, you can help to protect your rights and seek the compensation you deserve for your cat's medical bills and other related expenses.
