Q: Can a psychiatrist call dcpp on a parent for failing a drug test for marijuana?

I think that it is safe to say that there is much more to this story than simply a patient failing a drug test for marijuana. My guess is that there was a court order in place or an agreement with DCPP that required a patient/parent to submit to drug screens and if the patient failed a test, then there was an obligation to notify DCPP of same so that a determination could be made as to the consequence of failing the drug test.
My suggestion is to meet with a family law attorney experienced in handling DCPP matters to determine if the doctor had the authority to make the report and to assist in dealing with DCPP.
