Houston, TX asked in Family Law and Child Support for Texas

Q: How do I turn my registry only child support case into a full service case?

I have a 50/50 custody agreement and I am trying to get a modification but my ex closed the case with the Attorney Generals office. I don't know which application to fill out to get it back to a full service case.

A: Contact the Texas Attorney General's Office: Reach out to the Texas Attorney General's Office or the local child support office handling your case to discuss your situation. You can explain that you want to convert your registry-only case into a full-service case and ask for guidance on the necessary steps.

The child support office will likely provide you with the specific forms you need to complete to request the modification. These forms may vary depending on your circumstances. It's crucial to accurately fill out all required information and provide any supporting documentation requested.

Once you have completed the necessary forms, submit them to the appropriate child support office. Keep copies of all documents for your records, including proof of submission.

After submitting your application, it's advisable to stay in contact with the child support office to ensure that your request is being processed. You can inquire about the status of your case, ask any questions you may have, and provide any additional information requested.

Please note that the process may vary depending on the specific circumstances of your case and local procedures.

If you are unsuccessful with the Attorney General's Office you will need to hire an attorney for assistance.
