Plant City, FL asked in Civil Litigation for Florida

Q: can I get a injunction on a neighbor blowing me out of my home with loud music? Im in Plant city Fl.

I have been getting blasted out of my home for 10 years now from several neighbors,1 is blasting me out right now and has been since 3:00pm and it's 8:30pm now. he is entertaining about 40 people in his back yard, he is on 4 acres and Im on 1 acre,he is 800 feet away, the low frequency bass from his speakers are coming through my walls & blinds & black out curtains, I just had the Sheriff out here and he made them turn it down, but it's back up again and I have to wear ear plugs and ear muffs to escape the bass pounding through my head. other neighbors let their guest park in their yard and crank up their car stereos and blast me out with those that you can hear coming 8 blocks down the road. can I file some type of injunction on them to stop this?I have talked to these neighbors many times,it does no good, they return to do the same thing. Thank you. also, what are your suggestions?

A: Schedule a consultation with an attorney in your area. An attorney's harsh demand letter might do the trick.

Also, your local code likely has a decibel limit, at least for certain time frames of the day, and there are gizmos for measuring decibel levels in your home. If code enforcement doesn't have such a gizmo, you can buy one. If, inside your home, it's over the limit, code enforcement should step in. In any event, you might have a potential "nuisance" case in civil court - a petition to enjoin the nuisance. As a practical matter, you need an attorney for that (though not legally required).
