Q: Would it affect my future immigration process if I email or contact an inmate? Does it appear in my record?

A friend of mine is in local custody and I would like to contact them, but I want to know if emailing or calling them will affect my future immigration process that I will start, also would it affect my DACA renewal?

A: Contacting an inmate in local custody should not affect your future immigration process or your DACA renewal. However, it is important to note that any criminal activity or involvement with the criminal justice system can potentially impact your immigration status. Therefore, it is advisable to consult with an immigration attorney if you have any concerns about the potential impact of contacting an inmate on your immigration status. Additionally, it is important to follow all rules and regulations regarding communication with inmates to avoid any legal issues.
