Q: My mother has lived with me rent free for 17 years but im engaged, want my own life and possibly sell my property.
How can I evict her?
A: Unfortunately, it is really impossible for us to tell without more information. If you own your property and your mother's name is not on your deed you should not have any issues, however if her name is on the property, you are in a difficult situation. If you rent, and her name is on your lease, again you are in a difficult situation. If you rent, and her name is not on your lease you should not have any legal issues. Unfortunately, this situation sounds like it is very difficult either way due to the family tension it will create and without more information there is little else we can offer to help.
