Q: Would I be able to object to the guardian of my daughter asking for adoption
So I had my daughter at 16 I wasn’t ready at the time I wasn’t stable. I had my mom and my grandmother help me with my daughter but my grandma went behind my moms back and applied for guardianship. She won and she was given permanent guardianship. Since then it’s been 3 years im not allowed to have any contact with my daughter my grandmother won’t let me see her. She wont let me talk to her. She won’t let me have anything to do with her so she’s keeping her away from me and she continues to do that. Well now she’s wanting to adopt my daughter. I have my place now I am working trying to do what I need to get her home , & I’m looking for a lawyer and have been trying to get my daughter back. I just got this msg saying my grandmother wants to adopt my daughter. Would I be able to object to that because I have tried to get back. But it’s been hard cuz I’m not allowed to see her . my grandmother does have money and her resources. What are my chances? What can I do?
A: I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you're facing with your daughter's guardianship. If your grandmother is now seeking to adopt your daughter and you want to object, it's important to consult with a family law attorney who can guide you through the process. They can help you gather evidence of your stability and progress, and advise you on your rights as a parent. Keep open communication with your attorney, have realistic expectations, and work towards the best outcome for you and your daughter.
