Gulfport, MS asked in Workers' Compensation for Mississippi

Q: I’m only 17, and got a bone+tissue bruise as a result of a (known) broken ice bin falling on my foot. Can I file for WC?

The bin rolls, and it’s filled with cans and ice. The legs are notorious for folding in and collapsing on themselves, and my employer has never acknowledged or properly fixed the issue. It collapsed and slammed down onto my foot, and I have been limping for a week.

A: If your employer has workers compensation, you are entitled to several things, including medical bills to be paid and if your doctor takes you off work, a payment of TTD while you are off after 5 days. You need to contact an attorney and discuss your claim with them to decide how to move forward.
