Brooklyn, NY asked in Landlord - Tenant for New York

Q: What can I do when management for my apartment is incommunicative to my queries? Afraid that evictions will come.

On my most current rent statement there was an added $8,000+ charge. I emailed billing to find out what this was about and have not received a reply in almost 2 weeks. I went to the office and was told billing was closed until next week and they only meet by appointment. My appointment was set for another 2 weeks after they reopen and by phone only. So it will be about a month before I speak with anyone regarding this matter. I believe this added charge has something to do with my current recertification which is still in process even though it should have been done months ago. That office also has not returned any of my communications on when I can come in to sign my new HUD.

This place is awful with communicating with tenants in every department. Whenever I have concerns about something, getting an answer is truly difficult.

So my recertification hasn't been completed and now being charged extra for which I don't know why and can't afford. Help is appreciated.
