Q: How Do I Handle A Traffic Accident In Which The Other Driver Claimed I Left The Scene Of The Accident?

I was involved in a traffic accident on August 30, 2023. I rear-ended another individual. We both moved our cars to the shoulder of the road, I to the inside of the highway, and the other driver to the outside of the highway. After making a call to my insurance company, the other driver motioned for me to come to the outside of the highway. Traffic at the time was very heavy. I was unable to get to his side of the road directly. I left the highway and made my way back around to the outside of the highway, which took about 5 minutes. When I returned to the scene of the accident, the other driver had left the scene. I again called my insurance agent to ask what I should do. She had no helpful direction. I subsequently learned two days later the other driver filed a police report claiming hit and run. How do I proceed in this instance?
