A: Ownership of a motor vehicle is determined by whose name is on the title.

In a title loan, the lender is given the title to the vehicle until the loan is paid.

The borrower cannot sell the vehicle because the borrower does not have the title and therefore cannot transfer title to a buyer.

If a buyer does not receive title at the time of purchase, the buyer has knowledge the seller does not have title to the vehicle and therefore doesn’t have the authority to sell it.
