Ashland, KY asked in Family Law and Child Custody for Kentucky

Q: What are papers called for filing?

2015 in Fayette county I lost my kids due to a relapse. My mom got them, two months later I ended up in the hospital for months. The case was closed and my moms papers say temporary custody until children are 18. We are from Boyd Co. so after my hospital stay I came home to Boyd. I’ve been clean since 12/29/15 and have had three more kids. My two boys were given to me by my mom in 2018 she kept the two girls but this past year I’ve had one girl 90 percent of the time. She claims them for everything and told me when it comes to claiming them for any benefits like Medicaid I’d have to take her back to court. We had a great relationship until recently because she treats one child better than the rest and has been lied to this child stating I don’t want her and such. I want to file in Boyd Co because we don’t have anything to do with Fayette Co to have my kids back and nothing in her name. What would I file without a lawyer?

A: You’ll need to file a motion for return of custody in the Fayette County case.
