Okeechobee, FL asked in Divorce, Family Law and Personal Injury for Florida

Q: My first lawyer gave my case to his partner who was ill. No documents filed witness was not contacted. Statue ran out

My case was given to a partner in the firm without my knowledge, he refused to do anything to confirm orior knowledge of restaurant he refused to contact witness and would become very upset if I questioned him. I had to undergo surgery, I was in a wheelchair for months and yet I could not get anything done. The other partner would or could not find time to talk to me, the evidence was very strong on my side. It was a slip in fall due to wet floors and rusted pipes my lawyer simply told me that he was not wasting money to get statements from employees they would just lie. I tried to seek other counsel but was advised that once the disbursement of funds to both law firms there would be nothing left for me . But they did comment it that this was a great case of neglect they just wished I had come to them first . I suffered another incident I was tripped up by a puppy off it’s leash he took that case , notices were sent the information was wrong I find out that he had been sick for a whil

A: Your inquiry is a bit vague as to whether the first case is over with zero recovery, and if so, why. You seem to indicate that the statute of limitations period expired, but that issue likely has nothing to do with the issue of which witnesses should be contacted. You are also vague, ad to both cases, whether the firm is still retained or was fired or withdrew from representation. Call a personal injury attorney.
