A: You can only sue the state if the state or a state employee did something wrong. Did you get the tag number of the car that hit you? Have you filed an accident report, if so, then possibly the police department will have information on the car that hit you and you can pursue that claim.

A: Only a Mississippi attorney could advise here. But as a general matter in car accidents nationwide, some options include going through one's own UM (uninsured motorist) protection coverage, and where available, state indemnification funds that sometimes offer compensation where other options are not available through private insurance.
